I wanted to find out more about the possibilities
opened up by the Leipzig article and its mention of Wundt…

and I read an article by Carl Zimmer in NY Times
about the difficulty science has in correcting itself…

and a tweet by Carl Zimmer linked to a post about how
null hypothesis testing biases the scientific process…

Then I found some blogposts by the Neuroskeptic

…which led to a mention of “biological psychiatry” and its questionable authority…
which made me think of Wundt.

So, I started to notice that the neurological research that preceded behavioral studies is actually related to pathology studies done in Germany (with null hypothesis testing)…

and… I found this in the published abstract for the
Handbook of Clinical Neurology
Volume 95, 2009, Pages 667-689
History of Neurology

“The impact on natural science and medicine of the last great Vitalist, Johannes Müller, and his mechanistic students such as Remak, Schwann, Schleiden, Helmholtz, Ludwig, Brücke, Virchow, Koelliker, and Wundt was unparalleled. They provided the anatomical and physiological infrastructure for the growth of neurology.”

hmmmmm …. juicy can of worms, I believe !!!
